Gluten Free Sloppy Joes!

Need a fast fix for dinner that won’t leave the kids rolling their eyes and feigning seizures?  Try this sloppy joe recipe for a dinner that is sure to please every kid in the family (including your husband).

Here’s What You Will Need:

2 Pounds of Ground Beef

1/2 Medium Onion, chopped

1 Small Bell Pepper, chopped

1 C. Ketchup (I like Hunt’s 100% Natural without high fructose corn syrup)

1/3 C. Brown Sugar, packed

2 tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar

1 tsp. Salt

1 T. Mustard

1 tsp. Garlic Powder

Pinch of Allspice (that’s about 1/8th of a tsp.)

Gluten Free Hamburger Buns (My personal favorite is the Udi Brand)

Over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and peppers until the meat is cooked through and the onion is translucent.


If necessary, pour off extra grease.

In a separate bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, salt, vinegar, mustard, garlic powder, and allspice.


Pour the ketchup mixture over the cooked ground beef, continuing to cook over medium heat until the sloppy joes thicken up.  This should take about 3-4 minutes or until a clean line is formed when you scrape the bottom of the pan (see photo).

Serve with your favorite gluten free hamburger buns and lots of napkins!
